Hi Class 1,

I hope you have had a lovely weekend and have been enjoying the beautiful weather. I imagine the seeds you planted for your science experiment, should be doing well by now (depending on the factors you decided to investigate!), so if they are ready, then you might want to write your conclusion (what you found out) and evaluation (how you would improve the experiment if you were to do it again and how) for your science experiment, at some point this week. You should have left space at the end of your investigation in your book to complete this. I hope you enjoy this week’s home learning.

Friday

Hi Class 1,

Well done to you all for another successful week of home learning.  I have seen lots of great work already this week and I have loved hearing about what you have been up to.  Look out for your work coming soon to the home learning page.  If you have not already sent your work, then please email it to headteacher@netherseal.derbyshire.sch.uk.  I would love to see your stories and/or a photo/video of you reading your story - plus any other work you would like to send me too.

Have a lovely weekend - hopefully the weather will be a bit better!

See you on Monday for another week of home learning.

Miss Halsey

In your ‘10 for 10 booklets’, complete day ten (your final day) of reading, arithmetic, reasoning and GPaS.

Don’t forget, if you want some more maths to do (and you haven't completed them all already - including an extension one or two - well done Olly and Arlo!) it is the last time you can access the quizzes from Monday, so get quizzing before they are gone!

Y5/6 Topic:

Continue with your settlers and settlements project, which can be found at the top of the page.

Continue and complete reading chapter 10 of ‘Good Night Mr Tom’. Using your swag bag words from last week and your definitions from yesterday, write your own sentences containing your swag bag words. As well as including the words in your own sentences, try and make each sentence as effective as possible – do not rely on boring simple sentences – add wow openers, ambitious punctation etc. Remember the long date and the title: Good Night Mr Tom - Swag Bag Sentences.

GPaS:

Complete 11-20 of the GPaS cards from yesterday. Record your answers in your English book. Remember the long date and the title: GPaS. I have uploaded the answers to the challenge cards below, so when you have finished, please mark and correct your answers from yesterday and today.

Maths:

In your maths book, complete the arithmetic questions, for your year group, uploaded below. Remember the short date and title: Arithmetic.

Can you complete it in 30 minutes?

Can you beat your previous score from last week’s arithmetic test?

I have included the answers on the last page of the Year 5 arithmetic and as a separate document for Year 6, so when you have finished, make sure you mark and correct your answers.

Don’t forget, if you want some more maths to do, the quizzes from yesterday are available until the end of the week.  Those of you who completed them yesterday did an amazing job again!  Well done!

English:

Re-read your story from yesterday. Self-assess against your year group’s writing self-assessment criteria, which can be found on the Class 1 ‘Home Learning’ home page.

Which features have you included?

Which do you now need to add in/make sure you need to include next time?

Either print off and complete the success criteria and attach it to your piece of work, or record your self-assessment under your piece of writing, using stars for things you think you have done and an arrow for a wish for next time, just like you did on your last piece of pobble writing for home learning.

Once you have completed your self-assessment, it is then time to share. Your challenge is to make the story as engaging as possible for your listener/listeners, so make sure you think about your use of voice and pauses carefully. Please take a photo or video of you sharing your story too.

I would love to see your final stories and the photos/videos of you sharing your stories, so please email them to headteacher@netherseal.derbyshire.sch.uk. If you do decide to send your work, please put ‘For Miss Halsey’ as the subject.  I look forward to seeing them!
